If you are unsure of next steps, how to help someone you know, or a client; nCourage is available for confidential consultations.
Tips on how to respond?
- Listen to and take seriously any individual who discloses they are being abused or trafficked.
- Offer to make the connection to nCourage.
- Be non-judgmental.
- Recognize the signs.
- Allow for choice, meet them where they are at and on their terms.
- Use trauma informed, client-centered, anti-oppressive practices.
- Be mindful of your language, use their words.
- With consent, contact nCourage and they can provide support and services.
- Consult on a situation if you are not sure of next steps.
